It hasn’t been a stellar tournament for Stefan Kuntz’s team as they just managed to scrape into the final two, but one thing they have shown is unity as a team and they seem to have that in abundance.

Kuntz was dealt a big blow with the majority of the squad been promoted to the senior side for the Confederations Cup, and despite that they started well with comfortable victories over the Czech Republic and Denmark.

They did suffer defeat to Italy in their final group game but had done enough to qualify and set up a tie with England in the semi-finals, but that was certainly more than an test as the tie went all the way to penalties after the 2-2 draw in extra-time.

Young goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck was the hero as he saved two spot kicks to set up this tie, though they look to be the underdogs Kuntz has stated that he wants to test his side against the best.

The Bulls have named Tony Jantjiesat flyhalf for their Super Rugby clash against the Sharks in Durban on Friday night (19:00 kick-off).

Coach Nollis Marais, who is still in charge until new coach John Mitchell arrives in Pretoria, named his side on Wednesday.

Marais welcomed back the Springbok midfield pairing of Jan Serfontein and Jesse Kriel, while scrumhalf Rudy Paige is also in the starting line-up after returning from international duty.

Marais also handed a first start to winger Kefentse Mahlo and prop Conraad van Vuuren as the competition continues again after the June break.

Mahlo takes over from Kriel, who moves to outside centre, while Serfontein will wear the No 12 jersey for only the second time this season. Serfontein and Kriel played in together in two of the three Springbok Test matches in the series against France.

Regular inside centre, Burger Odendaal, who played at No 12 against the Hurricanes late last month, moves to the bench.

Van Vuuren, who has made three appearances off the bench, starts in his first match in place of Trevor Nyakane, who was ruled out, while John-Roy Jenkinson will take Van Vuuren’s bench duties.

Meanwhile, Jantjies – a former Junior Springbok – will run out in the starting team for the first time after three consecutive appearances off the bench. He replaces Tian Schoeman, who moves to the bench.

NBA Awards 2017

The first-ever NBA Awards show is set to take place Monday in the Big Apple, and all of the league’s biggest regular-season honors will be handed out.

Chief among them is the Most Valuable Player award, which boasts the closest race in recent memory, as there is little separating Houston Rockets guard James Harden, San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook.

Here is all the information you need to know in order to watch the 2017 NBA Awards show, along with nominees and predictions for who will take home every major award.

Where: Basketball City at Pier 36 in New York City

When: Monday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET

Watch: TNT

Awards

Most Valuable Player

Nominees: James Harden (HOU), Kawhi Leonard (SA), Russell Westbrook (OKC)

All three nominees were the lifeblood of their respective teams, but only Westbrook enjoyed a truly historic season.

With 42 triple-doubles, he broke Oscar Robertson’s single-season record and put the Thunder on his back more often than not.

Westbrook had far less support than Harden and Leonard over the course of the campaign, and it may not be a stretch to suggest OKC may have been one of the NBA’s worst teams without him.

The 28-year-old averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from long range as a high-volume shooter.

While it would be tough to argue against any of the three candidates coming away with the award, Westbrook was truly more valuable to his team than the others in 2016-17.

Prediction: Westbrook

Rookie of the Year

Nominees: Malcolm Brogdon (MIL), Joel Embiid (PHI), Dario Saric (PHI)

If Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid had managed to play at least 50 games in 2016-17, he would be the runaway choice for Rookie of the Year, but he instead played in just 31.

Because of that, it may come down to a two-horse race between Sixers teammate Dario Saric and Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon. While Brogdon was a cog in a playoff team, Saric really came into his own down the stretch and was a go-to guy for the Sixers with Embiid and Ben Simmons out for the season.

The Croatian averaged 12.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, showing that he will be a key part of the core that also includes Embiid, Simmons and 2017 No. 1 overall draft pick Markelle Fultz.

Prediction: Saric

Sixth Man

Nominees: Eric Gordon (HOU), Andre Iguodala (GS), Lou Williams (HOU)

Golden State Warriors small forward Andre Iguodala may have been a runaway choice for the Sixth Man award if it counted postseason contributions, but that isn’t the case.

Since it’s a regular-season award, Houston Rockets sharpshooters Eric Gordon and Lou Williams can’t be ignored.

Gordon was with the team for the entire season, while Williams came over in a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers and saw his numbers drop a bit.

Despite being used to playing a starting role, Gordon transitioned seamlessly, putting up 16.2 points per game and knocking down more than three trifectas per contest.

Prediction: Gordon

Coach of the Year

Nominees: Mike D’Antoni (HOU), Gregg Popovich (SA), Erik Spoelstra (MIA)

The NBA Coach of the Year award takes into account both excellence and exceeding expectations, and Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni scored points in both areas.

Houston hovered around .500 in 2015-16 and barely reached the playoffs, but it improved to 55-27 under D’Antoni, which was good for third place in the Western Conference.

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich’s excellence is often taken for granted, but he deserves a long look after leading his team to a 61-21 mark.

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is an interesting case due to the fact that his team missed the playoffs at 41-41, but they finished 30-11 and were among the NBA’s hottest teams down the stretch.

The British and Irish Lions face their toughest examination of the 2017 tour of New Zealand so far on Saturday, as they take on the All Blacks in the first of three Test matches.

The Lions are coming off a win over Super Rugby side Chiefs but have already suffered losses against Blues and Highlanders, while the hosts are coming off a huge 78-0 win over Samoa.

The Lions haven’t faced New Zealand since 2005, when the All Blacks easily swept their opponents aside. After some great showings in 2016, the hosts are again the clear favourites entering this series.

With Billy Vunipola and Ben Youngs no longer in the squad, the Lions have taken some hits during the tour. The visitors still boast tremendous talent―replacing scrum-half Youngs with a star such as Greig Laidlaw is a unique luxury―but the same holds true for the All Blacks.

Ardie Savea will move to the bench to make way for the returning Kieran Read, who will captain the side. Rieko Ioane, the 20-year-old who faced the Lions for the Blues, will also start, per the team’s official website.

Gatland, a native Kiwi, has hinted at a more adventurous tactical plan as opposed to the team’s reliance on the breakdown and kicking game, but given the All Blacks’ incredible ability on the counter and strength out wide, that may not be such a great idea.

Warren Gatland has named an strong, experienced XV as he looks to end New Zealand’s formidable record in Auckland.

The All Blacks have not been beaten at Eden Park since 1994, a 23-20 defeat to France. They were held 18-18 by South Africa later that year, but have since won 36 matches on the bounce.

After a slow start to the tour the Lions have won their two most recent warm-up matches, but Saturday’s Test will be just that. A massive test.

With 14 wins in their last 15 Tests―only Ireland have knocked them off their perch―the All Blacks are in sensational form.

As reported by Patrick McKendry of the New Zealand Herald, Lions head coach Warren Gatland knows his team will have to play at a high level to have any chance of winning:

PORSCHE are headed for a third successive victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans after early pace-setters Toyota saw their hopes of a first win disappear before dawn.

With under five hours remaining, just the No.1 Porsche of Neel Jani, Andre Lotterer and Nick Tandy remains standing of the LMP1 fleet after a litany of disasters scuppered the rest of the class.

LMP2 class cars fill out the next five spots and lie in wait should the No.1 Porsche hit trouble in the final six hours.

The Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca driven by Thomas Laurent, Oliver Jarvis and Ho-Pin Tung was in second place, 13 laps behind, while Vaillante Rebellion’s number 13 car, driven by Nelson Piquet Junior, David Hansson and Mathias Beche was third.

The No.2 Porsche is trying to chase them down to reach the podium after losing almost 20 laps in the garage with a front driveshaft problem, and sat sixth overall just three laps behind the second-placed car.

Toyota’s hopes were high after securing pole position with a record fastest lap at the Sarthe circuit, but two of the team’s three cars retired in the night within half an hour of each other.

Only the number eight Toyota remained on track, in 15th place and 28 laps behind the leading Porsche of former winners Neel Jani of Switzerland, Britain’s Nick Tandy and Germany’s Andre Lotterer.

“It is so disappointing. The car was running very well and we were just taking things steady, building a gap at the front. Then after the safety car, I just had no power,” pole-sitter Kamui Kobayashi said.

The former Formula One driver was halted by a clutch problem in the leading number seven car around the 10 hours mark.

Until then, the car had barely missed a beat as five-times runner-up Toyota set about trying to end years of heartache and become only the second Japanese manufacturer to win the motor sport’s greatest endurance race. The team missed out last year when their leading car broke down on the final lap only minutes from the chequered flag.

In a second big blow, the number nine car driven by Frenchman Nicolas Lapierre, Japan’s Yuji Kunimoto and Argentina’s Jose Maria Lopez was involved in a collision 15 minutes later and was forced to retire.

The number eight car of Switzerland’s Sebastien Buemi, Britain’s Anthony Davidson and Japan’s Kazuki Nakajima had already lost more than an hour in the pits as mechanics replaced the front motor and battery.

The Graff Racing entry of Australian James Allen, Franck Matelli and Richard Bradley was ninth overall after the 17 hours mark, while the Ford of Aussie Ryan Briscoe, New Zealand’s Scott Dixon and Richard Westbrook was 26th overall and eighth in the GTE Pro class.

America's Cup 2017 Live

Now that you’re all suitably titillated about what is to come, it’s time for a reminder of how we got here.

It’s been a long old road, starting all the way back in July 2015 for the first round of the America’s Cup World Series in Portsmouth. Nearly two years on, we’re here in sunny Bermuda.

Sir Ben Ainslie’s Land Rover BAR team won the World Series, giving handing them two bonus points for the start of the America’s Cup Qualifiers, which started in Bermuda at the end of May. It was, however, a false dawn for Sir Ben and his team; the Brits became the second team to be knocked out of the competition after the unfancied French were eliminated after round one.

Jimmy Spithill has admitted yesterday’s bow stunt was a calculated move to wind up the Team New Zealand camp on the eve of the America’s Cup match in Bermuda.

Two Team Japan crew members were yesterday spotted carrying two shiny red bows from the Oracle compound next door to the headquarters of the Japanese syndicate. The implication was that Oracle, as they are permitted to do under the Cup rules, were putting together a second boat using Team Japan’s hulls.

Speaking at the traditional pre-America’s Cup skippers press conference, Spithill said it was all a clever ruse to mess with the heads of Team NZ, and apparently the media, who he claimed to have “missed dearly” during his 10-day downtime in between official appearances.

“I think it just shows you guys will fall for anything, last time it was a stability augmentation system called ‘Herbie’. This time it was no coincidence that we saw the spy boat out there, I just can’t believe you guys fell for it again,” said Spithill.

Since its inception in 2004, the great undressed have ridden across London in a celebration of the bare body, to draw attention to the problems with ‘car culture’ and to defend the rights of cyclists.

Of course, it is not for the faint of heart: anyone wishing to participate with the ridden protest must have, ahem, the balls to cycle past London’s most famous landmarks in the nude. All routes will pass Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament, Westminster Bridge, London Eye, Waterloo Bridge, Royal Courts of Justice, Covent Garden, The Mall and Wellington Arch, where the race finishes. Eye-catching nakedness, though, is much of the point; a remark on need for drivers to be vigilant of cyclists on the road.

Organisers are clear that covering up with body paint or underwear is acceptable, and that riders should only strip down to whatever level they are comfortable with. It’s expected around 1000 cyclists will take part.

Given the event is a fun, lively event, many people plump for colourful body art or fancy dress – and no matter what the weather is like (it’s set to be warm, if cloudy), slap on the suncream. Remember, don’t be a boob and avoid run-ins with police by only undressing at the beginning of the race, not before, and covering up as soon as the ride is over.

The ride follows a circular route that lasts for around nine miles, plus the starting leg from where you join.

It is a leisurely race that took around 2.5 hours to complete back in 2011.

For full routes from your chosen starting location, click here to find them all on the race’s information page.

The route should see you passing the London landmarks of Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament, London Eye, Waterloo Bridge, Royal Courts of Justice, Covent Garden and The Mall.

Everyone will merge together around London Bridge and complete the ride together ending at Wellington Arch.
